Halloween is almost here, and to celebrate, the Wisconsin Humane Society will be hosting Halloween Howl 2009! You are invited to bring your dog-friendly dogs for a party at the Wisconsin Humane Society. This howling night will include a canine costume contest, tricks for treats, bobbing for hot dogs, a bone dig and more. There will be prizes and treats for dogs and people, too! Dogs are encouraged to come in costume! Halloween Howl is on Tuesday, October 27 at the Wisconsin Humane Society. The Early Party will take place from 5:45 p.m.-7:00 p.m. and the late party from 7:30 p.m.- 8:45 p.m. To purchase a ticket for the Halloween Howl, please visit www.wihumane.org. All proceeds from the event go right back to help animals at the shelter.
Stop by Bartolotta’s Pizzeria Piccola on Tuesday, October 13 from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. for a great dinner for a good cause. Pizzeria Piccola will be serving up their fabulous menu selections of authentic Italian cuisine. Volunteers from the Wisconsin Humane Society will be dishing out slices of delicious pizza, with proceeds going directly to the shelter animals.
You can also order frozen pizza for pick-up the night of the event. If you are not able to attend this event, pre-order a frozen Italian, vegetable, spicy salami or cheese pizza by filling out an order form (click here)and emailing it to WHS. You pay the restaurant upon pick-up. Forms must be sent to jfeurer@wihumane.org by 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 9.

Have you been to the WHS website lately? Have you ever seen so many adorable dogs? This morning, we opened at 10:00 a.m. with 69 available dogs! Chihuahua puppies, 8-week-old Chow Chow puppies, not to mention gorgeous Labrador Retriever mix puppies! We also have a variety of terrific adults, who already know the ropes.
If you are looking for a sweet-natured, lovabale, huggable adult, look no further than Lady Bug. She has become a fast favorite among volunteers and staff due to her affectionate, laid-back attitude.
Yes, Lady Bug could shed a few pounds, and what better motivation to keep yourself active during the holiday season, too!

Caravan of Costumed Canines
Come watch four-legged ghouls and goblins stroll down Wisconsin Avenue at the Wisconsin Humane Society’s Halloween parade! On Friday, October 30 at 1:00 p.m., see little lobsters, princesses, rock stars and other dogs-in-disguise strut their stuff.
All the dogs in the parade will be walked by cats, so you don’t want to stray from this photo opportunity! Plus, all of the dogs are available for adoption at the Wisconsin Humane Society.
The public is invited to the parade, which will include treats for kids and pumpkin decorating, too!
