Debate over gardens will have to wait
First it was chickens, now it's gardens.
The village's Streets and Building Committee ran out of time last night as it listened to the arguments, pro and con, for allowing gardens or plantings in the village right of way but will continue to consider the issue at its next meeting June 22.
Village Manager Chris Swartz said the village needs to address planting beds that have been placed in the rights of way between sidewalks and the road. The plantings range from hostas encircling trees to raised box planting beds and a variety of other vegetation such as ground covers.
Twenty-one village residents came to the committee meeting last night but time was limited by the start of the Village Board meeting that followed the committee.
