WELLSPRING OF MILWAUKEE HEALTH CARE CENTER NOW UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT

MILWAUKEE, WI – Wellspring of Milwaukee, a rehabilitation and skilled nursing center located at 9350 West Fond Du Lac Avenue in Milwaukee, is now under the new management of Milwaukee Healthcare.

Under a purchase agreement finalized on Friday, August 17, 2012, Milwaukee Healthcare will manage the health care operations of Wellspring. Wellspring will retain its name as well as all existing residents. Milwaukee Healthcare has also agreed to retain essentially all of the current employees of the skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility. During the receivership process, Wellspring has continued to operate in the normal course of business with no interruption to patient care.

Milwaukee Healthcare Properties I, LLC, an entity organized and controlled by William Nicholson, who through his construction company recently completed an $18 million renovation project on the facility utilizing HUD insured financing, is the owner of the 185-bed Wellspring of Milwaukee facility.

Robert Fisher, Wellspring’s COO and Administrator stated, “In August, Mr. Nicholson and his associates met with us to outline their vision for Wellspring in detail. It was the most pivotal point thus far investing in the future for Wellspring of Milwaukee. They gave me the go ahead to ensure that we had the right staff. They have put their shoulder behind this building, with capital, conviction, and a culture of excellence. They have invested $18 million into our community, and are now standing behind not only their building improvements, but behind their commitment to quality healthcare.”

“The attitude of our staff, the ‘vibe’ in the facility, and patient care has never been better. We are proud to have one of the best rehabilitation and skilled nursing facilities in greater Milwaukee,” Fisher added.

Nicholson stated, “We are committed to the investment we have made in Milwaukee, its health care community, the neighborhood and, most importantly, the residents of Wellspring. We have been committed to ensuring that patient care did not suffer during this transition period. The staff at Wellspring is in agreement and has remained fully committed to maintaining the operations and providing superior care to the residents. As the Receivership is coming to an end, we look forward to serving the community with our dedicated staff, and ever improving quality of care.”

The Wellspring facility recently underwent full interior and exterior renovations. The multimillion dollar renovation of the 102,000 square foot facility was completed in six phases, to allow for continued occupancy of the nursing home during construction.

Renovations resulted in the creation of The Rehabilitation Center at Wellspring, 52 private guest rooms featuring private baths and complimentary flat screen TVs with cable service, personal phone lines, and wireless Internet access and a dedicated short-term therapy center consisting of a spacious rehab gym, and new, modern therapy equipment. The Rehabilitation Center offers Accelerated Care Plus™ therapeutic equipment, including the OmniVR™ virtual rehabilitation system, which is proven to shorten the amount of time it takes for rehab patients to recover.

The facility was also upgraded with new kitchen and laundry facilities, new windows, new electrical, HVAC, alarm, nurse call, and security systems, a luxurious roof deck patio, a porte cochere, and new sidewalks, among other improvements.

Wellspring of Milwaukee offers rehabilitation services, skilled nursing programs, a specialized Alzheimer’s and memory care program, and long-term care. The Rehabilitation Center at Wellspring also offers outpatient and inpatient short-term rehabilitation services including cardiac, stroke, and orthopedic rehabilitation, physical, speech, and occupational therapy, subacute care following acute illness or injury, and respite care.
