Twelve-year-old Shorewood resident performs in First Stage’s PINKALICIOUS THE MUSICAL

March 9, 2013

Twelve-year-old Shorewood Resident, Morgan Gamblin, appears in First Stage’s PINKALICIOUS THE MUSICAL, a fun-loving musical based on the popular book of the same name by Victoria Kann and Elizabeth Kann, playing at the Todd Wehr Theater at the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts through March 27.

Morgan has been involved in theater for almost three years, spending the last two performing with First Stage. Outside of First Stage, she played her favorite role to date as Martha Cratchit in A CHRISTMAS CAROL at Milwaukee Repertory Theater. “I enjoy acting because I get to meet so many different personalities and I thoroughly enjoy ever experience because they are never the same,” Morgan said. “My favorite part of performing is just seeing all of the smiling faces staring back at you as you tell a joke or sing a song.”

From performing and participating in shows, Morgan has learned that no matter what, you will always learn something during rehearsals. “Whether in class or show, you will learn a new song or a director’s preference. You will learn how to expand yourself and see a different perspective,” she said. “The biggest thing I’ve learned is that you always have to take that chance.”
Morgan enjoys First Stage because everyone is compassionate, kind and helpful all the time. She said, “The best part of performing in PINKALICIOUS is when you get a reaction from the younger kids in the audience. The kids really get into it!”

“Our production creates a playful world of excessive pink, magical transformations and dancing cupcakes,” said First Stage Associate Artistic Director John Maclay, the director of this colorful musical adventure. “Our talented actors, designers and professional shops all played a part in bringing Pinkalicious, her world, her family, her friends, and several dancing cupcakes to life here at First Stage,” he continued.

About PINKALICIOUS THE MUSICAL: How much is too much pink? Pinkalicious Pinkerton will soon realize how much when she develops “pinkititis” from eating too many pink cupcakes and turns pink from head to toe! What starts off as a dream come true for the pink-loving enthusiast turns into a disaster as her hue goes a little too far! Will her broccoli-eating brother be able to help cure her before it’s too late? Experience this colorful musical adventure, and indulge in the sweetest treat in town!

PINKALICIOUS THE MUSICAL is recommended for everyone ages 3 and up, and runs through March 27. For tickets or more information, visit www.firststage.org.
