Soulstice Theatre presents "Pursuit of Love" Feb 18-27
Soulstice Theatre , in collaboration with Seat of Our Pants Theatre Troupe, celebrates the Valentine’s season with "Pursuit of Love", six unique stories in dramatized Reader’s Theatre format. Ranging from romantic to downright wacky, the stories seek to answer the question “How do people find love?”. Performance dates are Thursday/Friday/Saturday, February 18-20 and Friday/Saturday, February 26-27 in the 4th Floor Theatre of the Marian Center for Non-Profits at 3211 S. Lake Drive in St. Francis.
Directed by local professional actress Debra Babich (recently seen in "7 Stories" at Next Act Theatre), the evening consists of several adaptations of short stories in Reader’s Theatre versions, as well as modest productions of three established short plays, namely William Borden’s "Jumping", and two short pieces by John Patrick Shanley, "Let Us Go Out into the Starry Night" and "A Lonely Impulse of Delight."
Lighting, live music, and live sound effects (Foley effects) will allow the audience to participate actively and imaginatively in the stories. The program also incorporates songs with piano accompaniment.
Founded by Soulstice Board member Mark Flagg, Seat of Our Pants Theatre Troupe has been presenting plays in the Reader’s Theatre format for 17 years. Soulstice produced a Wisconsin premiere of Nilo Cruz’s "Anna in the Tropics" two years ago, and last year saw a similar premiere of Karen Zacarias’ "The Book Club Play."
Cast members include Soulstice veteran actors Josh Perkins, Jason Thompson, Matt Michaelis, Stephanie Graham, Shemagne O’Keefe, Brian Myers, Liz Ahlstrom, Margaret Casey and Mark Flagg, as well as newcomers to Soulstice, but well-known on the Milwaukee scene, James J. Gallagher and Nasreen Ameri.
Part of Soulstice's mission is to give back to the community by donating a percentage of its box office to a charity chosen by the cast during the rehearsal process. For "Pursuit of Love", Soulstice has chosen Literacy Services of Wisconsin.
Tickets are $15/$12 and may be reserved by phone at 414/431-3187 or online at http://www.soulsticetheatre.org. All performances are at 7:30 p.m. For a delightful evening of comic warmth in a cold season, join the talented cast in its "Pursuit of Love."
